El Paso Country Day School

Every great advance in science has issued from a new audacity of imagination. John Dewey

El Paso Country Day School is a secular, all-inclusive Pre-K through 12th Grade educational institution that provides a targeted, individualized system of learning for children who express the highest intellectual and academic potential. Founded in 1980, the school has a rich tradition of providing for the academic and emotional development of the whole child in small class settings within a culturally and socially diverse student body. The 2008-09 student body included students from 22 different countries and all socio-economic backgrounds. The average student-teacher ratio for 2010 is 8:1 and over 70% of the faculty has advanced

degrees, including numerous teachers with more than one advanced degree and/or terminal degrees (M.F.A., Ph.D., etc.). Last academic year, the EPCDS Math Team won first place in 26 out of 28 city-wide math competitions, beating both public and private high schools with as many as 2000 students. EPCDS has had at least two Texas State Math Champions since the school began competing at the state level, in 1999. In 2009, an EPCDS Senior won first place in every major event at the Texas State Math Tournament.

Fourteen percent of our graduates have been National Merit Scholars and Seniors graduate with an average of 24 college credits earned in dual-credit courses taught in-person, on campus, by University Professors. 100% of our Seniors graduate, and 100% attend university. The 15-member graduating class of 2009 was awarded over $500,000 in academic scholarships and graduates were admitted to schools such as Northwestern, Georgia Tech, University of Washington, Austin College and more.
